Prof. Oyesoji Aremu, VC, Achievers University, Owo
The Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, has announced that 319 students have benefited from its 12 tuition-free academic programmes. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oyesoji Aremu, stated this at a press briefing ahead of the institution’s 15th convocation and 18th Foundation Day.
Aremu said the university’s mission includes making quality degree programmes accessible to indigent students. A total of 705 students are set to graduate, with 72 earning first-class honours, 318 earning Second Class (Upper Division), 223 earning Second Class (Lower Division), 40 earning Third Class, and 52 earning higher degrees.
Highlighting institutional growth, the Vice-Chancellor noted that Achievers University now has two colleges: the College of Medicine, in its third year, and the College of Postgraduate Studies with nine faculties offering 11 postgraduate programmes.
The university recently signed an MoU with the Federal Ministry of Health to use the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, for clinical training of MBBS students.
Aremu emphasised ongoing infrastructure development, including a clinical hostel and an academic building, and noted the university’s zero tolerance for drug abuse, social media misconduct, and examination malpractice.
He added that regular student colloquia emphasise morality, integrity and good character.
