Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, has inaugurated Professor Ebunoluwa Olufemi Oduwole as its 5th Vice-Chancellor, marking the first time a woman will lead the faith-based institution.
At the ceremony on Wednesday, Oduwole unveiled a 10-point vision plan focused on academic renewal, infrastructure, research, and financial diversification. She pledged to position ACU as a global brand while upholding its Christian ethos.
Her agenda includes the creation of new faculties, such as Clinical Medicine and Pharmacy, alongside the launch of a Distance Learning Programme. A Research Management and Innovation Office will also be established to drive knowledge and technology development.
Oduwole promised to prioritise staff and student welfare, warning against cultism and bullying, while stressing the importance of discipline and inclusivity. She also announced plans to strengthen ties with host communities and reduce reliance on tuition fees through new revenue streams.
Founded in 2005 by the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), ACU operates four campuses in Oyo State. Oduwole, an accomplished scholar, succeeds Professor Timothy Adebayo, whose tenure ended in 2025. Her appointment represents a milestone in the university’s 20-year history.
