Leaders of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) have called for stronger unity among university unions to improve education standards in Nigeria.
ASUU President, Prof. Chris Piwuna, and NAAT President, Ibeji Nwokoma, appealed during the 60th National Executive Council meeting of NAAT held at the Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Prof. Piwuna said Nigerian universities are facing serious challenges and cannot overcome them without solidarity among all unions. He stressed that no union is more important than another and urged members to respect one another to make the system work smoothly.
He warned that rivalry among unions is not healthy for the university, adding that it only serves to weaken the fight for better funding, facilities, and staff welfare.
