The Old Students Association of Ayegun Baptist Church College, Temidire, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Saturday honoured the pioneer principal, the late Rev. G.O. Lasehinde, and his immediate successor, Dn. Peter Aderinto and other former leaders of the institution for their contributions in laying a solid foundation for the school.
The award ceremony, held as part of the college’s 30th anniversary, also marked the formal inauguration of the alumni association, with Rev. Dr Oluwafemi Ojo, a member of the first graduating class, emerging as President.
The alumni announced plans to construct a modern multipurpose hall with an e-examination centre. According to the architectural design, the ground floor will serve as an events hall while the upper floor will house the e-examination centre. The project is expected to be completed within four years.
In his lecture, Prof Olugbenga Bello of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology commended the initiative, stressing that reunions provide opportunities to reflect on the past and chart a course for the future.
He urged the alumni to support the school through mentorship, financial contributions, and professional expertise.
The school principal, Dns. A.A. Eebo praised the students’ consistent academic performance and appealed to the alumni for further support. Similarly, Rev’d Dr Paul Olaleye, the college proprietor, encouraged the alumni to work collectively towards their goals.
The programme, which featured recognition of other past principals and vice principals, concludes with a thanksgiving service at Ayegun Baptist Church.
