Mr. Alex Alegieuno Omiogbemi, a Nigerian business executive and community development advocate, has revealed a greater drive to educate the underprivileged after completing the Oxford Executive Leadership Programme at the prestigious Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, UK.
Mr Omiogbemi, who hails from the Emokhueme Community in Edo State, says the international exposure has deepened his commitment to grassroots development and sustainable leadership across Nigeria.
A career professional with over two decades of experience in banking and corporate management, he currently heads Rainbow Network Global Synergy Ltd., a conglomerate with interests in construction, oil and gas, and hospitality. However, it is his ongoing work in education and philanthropy that has attracted public attention. Through the Alex Alegieuno Omiogbemi Foundation, he has launched several initiatives focused on improving access to education in underserved areas. One of the flagship projects is the Omiogbemi Secondary School, the first of its kind in the Emokhueme community, designed to offer modern learning opportunities and vocational training to local students. Speaking, Mr Omiogbemi explained, “Education changed my life. If my children can go to the best schools, then other children, regardless of background, should not be held back simply because of poverty.”
In 2024, he also spearheaded the Emokhueme Education Trust Fund, which aims to cover school-related costs for local indigenes. A Board of Trustees comprising respected figures, including Dr (Engr.) Sir Kess Omiogbemi and Prince Fidelis Ayiabe, Chairman of Fidson Pharmaceuticals, were set up to ensure the transparent administration of the fund. In recognition of his contributions to peace and social development, Mr Omiogbemi has been inducted as a United Nations Peace Ambassador. He remains an active member of the International World Peace Advocates.
His foundation’s broader work includes support for over 40 small-scale businesses, provision of scholarships, and establishment of a skills acquisition centre for unemployed youth. He shared that his experience at Oxford strengthened his belief in leadership that delivers long-term value: “What we build today must make life easier for those coming after us. That is the kind of leadership Africa needs.” As the President General of Emokhueme Community, Mr Omiogbemi has continued to promote peace and local development through inclusive and accountable governance.
