The Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS), Ilorin, has launched a campaign to protect children from social vices in partnership with the Bazarab Educational Foundation.
The sensitisation programme, themed “Safeguarding the Child Against Social Vices,” was organised through the college’s Directorate of Centre for Degree and Professional Programmes. It brought together students, staff and community stakeholders to discuss ways of protecting vulnerable children and promoting access to education for underprivileged girls.
Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Dr Zainab Balogun, said the organisation had supported thousands of young women nationwide through scholarships, mentorship schemes and skills training. She called for more decisive collective action against child marriage and female genital mutilation, describing both as barriers to education and empowerment.
Balogun added that the foundation would continue to advocate policies that provide safe spaces for children, particularly girls, while advancing inclusive learning opportunities.
Officials at CAILS welcomed the collaboration, noting that it aligns with the college’s mission to promote academic excellence and social responsibility. They stressed the importance of tackling social vices to safeguard the future of students in Kwara State and beyond.
