In a bid to curb the rising cases of Ponzi schemes and financial scams in Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers has announced that it will intensify its investment in education for young Nigerians.
The Institute made the promise ahead of its 2025 Annual Stockbrokers’ Conference, scheduled to be held in Abuja from October 16 to 17, 2025.
In a statement on Wednesday, the two-day event, themed ‘Capital Markets in a Digital, Ethical, and Sustainable Era: Charting Pathways for Economic Transformation’, will bring together government officials, regulators, market operators, investors, and international experts.
Speaking on the sidelines of the conference preparations, CIS Vice President Fiona Ahimie stressed the importance of empowering young Nigerians with financial knowledge to prevent them from falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
“Too many young Nigerians fall prey to Ponzi schemes and financial scams due to a lack of knowledge. We are on a mission to change that by positioning the capital market as a real, credible avenue for funding, investing, and building wealth,” Ahimie said.
She explained that the Institute would use the conference to engage students and young professionals directly, opening their eyes to career opportunities in stockbroking, investment banking, asset management, and related fields.
