Students at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), say herds of cattle are increasingly taking over parts of the campus, obstructing movement and disrupting daily activities.
The animals, often seen on major roads and pedestrian walkways, have in some cases formed blockades that prevent students from reaching lecture halls on time. Some students say they have been forced to abandon routes altogether when confronted by the herds.
“This is an agricultural university, but that should not mean cows dominate our roads,” one student said. “We came here to study, not to compete with livestock for space.”
The situation has raised concerns about safety and the learning environment, with staff and students urging university authorities to act. Many argue that the presence of cattle is displacing normal campus life and undermining the institution’s academic focus.
