Mrs. Rose Ezewu, the Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, has described physical and health education as the foundation for talent discovery, sports excellence, and social transformation.
Ezewu remarked while addressing participants at the state conference of the Nigeria Association for Physical, Health Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (NAPHER-SD), held at the Delta State College of Education, Mosogar.
The conference, themed “Revitalising Physical and Health Education in Nigeria: Transforming Lives through Innovations, Inclusions and Sustainable Strategies,” brought together experts, educators, and policymakers from across the state.
Ezewu lauded Delta’s record of producing world-class athletes, attributing the feat to consistent investment in sports education. She urged stakeholders to prioritise physical and health education, stressing that it should not be treated as an afterthought but as “a foundation for shaping disciplined, healthy, and successful citizens.”
