A lecturer at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, an affiliate institution of Ekiti State University (EKSU), has been accused of soliciting payments from students in exchange for passing grades.
The lecturer, identified as Alamu Musibau Adetunji of the Social Studies Department, allegedly demanded money through his personal bank account and provided students with examination questions ahead of assessments. Audio recordings obtained during the investigation captured him making the demands and issuing leaked questions, which later appeared on an official examination paper.
The case came to light after two students in the Early Childhood Education programme reported that they had failed a particular course, SSE106, multiple times. They alleged that when they approached Adetunji, he told them the only way to pass was to pay. The students said they were instructed to make deposits into a Wema Bank account under Adetunji’s name and were also given his mobile number. One of the students alleged that the lecturer threatened her with another carryover when she delayed payment.
When contacted, Mr. Adetunji denied the allegations, describing them as “nonsense,” before ending the call. He also failed to make further comments on the matter.
