European-American University has disowned reports claiming it awarded honorary doctorate degrees to Hausa musician Dauda Kahutu Rarara and others at a supposed convocation in Abuja. The institution, in a statement on Saturday, described the event held at NICON Luxury Hotel as a fraudulent gathering organised without its approval.
The university stressed that it never authorised such a ceremony and that none of the individuals named, including Rarara, Alhaji Ahmed Saleh Jnr., Mustapha Abdullahi Bujawa, and Tarela Boroh, appear in its official Register of Graduates. It also dismissed claims that Musari Audu Isyaku or Idris Aliyu represented its leadership in Nigeria, clarifying that Aliyu’s earlier fellowship had been revoked.
Reaffirming its status, the university said it is legally established in France and holds a Royal Charter from the Kingdom of Bunyoro-Kitara in Uganda. It vowed to work with Nigerian authorities to prevent the spread of fake certificates and prosecute those responsible for the fraudulent event.
