The Federal Government has released a comprehensive policy for the strategic planning and regulation of non-state schools nationwide.
Dr. Tunji Alausa, Minister of Education, stated that the policy will improve the quality of Nigeria’s education sector and promote greater accountability. Alausa noted that the policy will set clear guidelines for infrastructure, teacher quality, curriculum delivery, and accountability standards.
The minister further explained that the government will provide practical incentives for private school operators, including direct reimbursement for enrolling out-of-school children, with immediate implementation for the 2025/2026 academic session.
