Federal Polytechnic Ayede Urges Students to Learn Skills and Create Jobs

Pioneer rector, Dr. Taofeek Abdul-Hameed,

The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Dr Taofeek AbdulHameed, has restated the school’s commitment to helping students gain technical and vocational skills. He said this during a webinar on skills and entrepreneurship held on Saturday. Speaking through the Polytechnic Librarian, Dr Samuel Ogunniyi, the Rector advised students to acquire valuable skills while still in school, so they can thrive and create jobs for themselves and others.

The Acting Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Mr. Oluwaseun Owojori, welcomed guests and introduced the guest speaker from SEAD Africa. One of the directors, Mr. Semiu Adabanija, told the students that having just a degree is no longer enough. He encouraged them to develop soft skills, attend workshops, volunteer, participate in internships, and document both their successes and failures. At the end of the session, students were told to write an “Aspiration Plan” to put their ideas into action.
