FirstBank sponsors ethical challenge competition to promote institutional values
FirstBank has reiterated its commitment to strengthening ethical standards among future professionals, following the emergence of students from the University of Benin as winners of the 2025 CFA Society Nigeria Universities Ethics Challenge in Lagos.
Speaking at the event, FirstBank’s Acting Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Olayinka Ijabiyi, said the bank continues to sponsor the competition because ethics remain the core of strong institutions and long-term corporate stability.
He stressed that instilling ethics early helps shape responsible business leaders who can apply sound judgment in real-world situations.
Ijabiyi noted that FirstBank’s century-long relevance is built on consistent ethical practices, calling on individuals and organisations to uphold integrity in all dealings. He added that the bank will sustain its sponsorship, with expectations that next year’s edition will be even bigger.
The University of Benin clinched first place, followed by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Covenant University in second and third positions, respectively.
Other finalists included Ahmadu Bello University, Lagos State University, University of Ilorin, Obafemi Awolowo University and Bells University of Technology.
UNIBEN team leader, Abhareyi Isaac, attributed the victory to teamwork and resilience, expressing gratitude to CFA Society Nigeria and FirstBank for the opportunity.
