Former Education Secretary Abducted by Gunmen

A former education Secretary, Mr Samuel Dangiwa, and six others have been abducted by armed men in Kufana town, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, September 13, saw the gunmen taking the victims to an undisclosed location, plunging the community into anxiety.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed that among those abducted is Dangiwa, a respected community leader and former Education Secretary.

Local sources say that military personnel and community youths immediately mobilised to track the abductors and secure the safe release of the victims. As of press time, search and rescue operations were ongoing, though security authorities had not yet issued an official statement.

This fresh incident points to the persistent challenge of insecurity in Kaduna State, particularly in Kajuru Local Government Area, which has witnessed repeated attacks, kidnappings, and communal unrest in recent years.

Reports from security trackers show that rural communities in Southern Kaduna remain vulnerable to raids by armed groups, often resulting in loss of lives, displacement, and disruption of education and farming activities..

The abduction of Dangiwa is yet another proof of the impact of insecurity on human capital development, as teachers, students, and education officials increasingly find themselves at risk in rural communities.
