Leaders of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) have paid a visit to the Chairman of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Rt. Hon. (Dr) Alhaji Bello Massari, CFR, in a move to strengthen partnerships and seek support for key university projects.
The visit, which took place on Wednesday, May 15 2025, in Abuja, was led by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aminu Ado, along with the University Librarian, Dr Ukashatu Hamza, and the Registrar, Dr Musa Ajiya.
In a press release signed by Dr Musa Ajiya, the university described the visit as an essential step in building strong ties with national leaders and pushing forward its mission of infrastructure growth and academic excellence. The Acting Vice-Chancellor thanked Dr Massari, a former Governor of Katsina State and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, for his ongoing support and mentorship. He described him as a father figure and a source of inspiration for the university’s progress.
During the visit, Prof. Ado explained some of the challenges FUDMA is currently facing. These include serious security problems, such as banditry and kidnapping, as well as power outages that affect learning and make it difficult for the university to fully operate from its main campus, located 20 km away from its temporary site. He also mentioned issues of vandalism and theft of university property.
To solve these problems, the Vice-Chancellor appealed for government support through TETFund. He requested assistance with establishing a military barracks near the main campus, perimeter fencing, and the provision of long-distance buses to facilitate student and staff travel to the main campus and the university teaching hospital in Katsina.
In response, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Alhaji Bello Massari, CFR, praised the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership and vision. He assured the University of TETFund of its support and stated that FUDMA is among the universities selected to benefit from solar energy projects aimed at addressing power challenges. The visit, according to FUDMA, highlights the importance of mentorship, effective leadership, and strong partnerships in shaping a better future for education in Nigeria.
