FUL Maintains Ban on Indecent Acts During Graduation

The management of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has reminded graduating students of the institution that the ban on activities deemed indecent, unruly, or disruptive during graduation celebrations remains firm.

In a statement signed by the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof Isah Y. Yunusa, the university congratulated the graduating class on their academic achievements. However, it stressed that all celebrations must be conducted with “a sense of decorum, responsibility, and respect for the campus community and its property.”

Among the activities strictly prohibited are:

1. Spraying of cash or monetary items during celebrations, which the institution described as wasteful, undignified, and a security risk.
2. Inscriptions or defacing of clothes, walls, furniture, or any university property.
3. Noise pollution from unauthorised use of public address systems, loudspeakers, or any equipment capable of disrupting academic and social peace.
4. Unauthorised gatherings, such as parties or processions, are not permitted without prior approval from the Office of Students’ Affairs.
5. Reckless driving and vehicle convoys, including stunts and dangerous displays on campus roads, and any other rowdy or unruly behaviour, including intoxication, illicit substances, fighting, or actions deemed unbecoming of graduates.

The university warned that violators would face “severe disciplinary action in accordance with the institution’s Code of Conduct,” which could include withholding of degree certificates, denial of alumni privileges, or suspension of graduation rites.
