FUTA Teaching Hospital Appoints Emmanuel Bello as Pioneer Chairman

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) Teaching Hospital has appointed Dr Emmanuel Olaseinde Bello as the pioneer Chairman of its Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC).

The CMAC, which heads the directorate of clinical services, is one of the three directorates forming the administrative structure of Federal Teaching Hospitals in Nigeria. Bello’s appointment represents a significant milestone for the newly established hospital as he becomes the first to occupy the role.

An experienced consultant paediatrician and neonatologist, Bello studied at the College of Health Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, and completed his residency training at the OAU Teaching Hospital. He is a fellow of the West African College of Physicians in Paediatrics.

He began his career as a consultant paediatrician at the former State Specialist Hospital, Akure, in 2015. Following its incorporation into the UNIMED Teaching Hospitals Complex, Bello became one of its founding staff members. He also served as Head of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, where he continues to lecture as a senior academic.

Would you like me to expand this into a fuller feature-style report that highlights what his appointment means for FUTA Teaching Hospital and the local health sector?
