The Chief Executive of a global fund, Ms Aguele, has called on government and other stakeholders to push for stronger education policies to support adolescent mothers facing child marriage and gender-based violence.
Her remarks came after the fund’s first-ever global board meeting in Nigeria, which included direct engagement with grassroots partners. During the visit, the team met young mothers who shared their struggles and hopes of returning to school.
Aguele noted that while many of the girls still dream of continuing their education, government and community interventions must ensure that this possibility is guaranteed. “Policies must guarantee that hope,” she emphasised.
The visit highlighted the urgent need to protect vulnerable girls, strengthen education access, and provide safe pathways for adolescent mothers to rebuild their futures.
