Godfrey Okoye University (GOUNI), Enugu, held its 13th convocation ceremony
Godfrey Okoye University (GOUNI), Enugu, has graduated 660 students at its 13th convocation, with 22 earning first-class honours. Vice-Chancellor Christian Anieke disclosed that 210 students graduated with second class upper.
Ms Mary Nkenna Azubuike of the Department of Psychology emerged as the best graduating student, achieving a CGPA of 5.96. Anieke highlighted the university’s focus on entrepreneurship, noting that 200 students had been trained and empowered to launch micro-startups valued at over N11 million.
Since its inception, GOUNI has produced 4,431 graduates and has partnered with foreign institutions, including Leuphana University (Germany), Mt. Kenya University, and the University of Venda (South Africa), on DAAD-funded Sustainable Development Goals projects. Under the grant, 700 students have benefited from entrepreneurship and sustainability training.
Governor Peter Mbah praised the university for its societal contributions, while Catholic Bishop Callistus Onaga commended its expansion and academic achievements. Graduates were urged to leverage their education for lifelong learning, societal impact, and professional excellence.
The ceremony was attended by government officials, religious leaders, GOUNI’s management, students, parents, and other dignitaries.
