Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has pledged support for the renovation of Ahmadu Bello University’s (ABU) Central Chemistry Laboratory in memory of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
Radda gave the assurance while receiving a delegation from the university led by Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adamu Ahmed, at the Government House in Katsina.
The governor, an ABU alumnus, described the project as a noble initiative and urged fellow alumni to contribute to the institution’s growth. He said universities such as ABU remain the backbone of Nigeria’s intellectual development and must be sustained to remain globally competitive.
“As alumni, we owe ABU a responsibility. The university shaped us, and it is only right that we continue to support its growth and excellence,” Radda said.
He also restated his administration’s commitment to strengthening higher education in the state through partnerships and infrastructural support.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor stated that the laboratory renovation would honour Yar’Adua’s legacy, noting his contributions as both an alumnus and a former president. Ahmed added that ABU recently ranked as Nigeria’s best public university by Times Higher Education and appealed for further support to rehabilitate internal roads as part of its 63rd anniversary activities.
