The Kebbi state government has sanctioned approximately N96 million for the accreditation of courses at the College of Health Science and Technology, Jega. Additionally, another N40 million will be distributed among four tertiary institutions in the State monthly as a cash allocation.
The Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar Tunga, announced this at a news briefing in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday. Tunga stated that Governor Nasir Idris had approved the release of the money as part of his commitment to promoting tertiary education.
“Before now, Adamu Augie College of Education, Argungu, was receiving N2 million monthly cash allocation, College of Health Science and Technology, Jega, N1.5 million, College of Advanced and Legal Studies, Yauri, N5 million, while Kebbi State Polytechnic Dakingari, received N2 million. “As of May 2025, Comrade Idris has raised the amount to N10 million monthly as cash allocation to each of the four institutions,” Tunga announced.
The commissioner further asserted that the government has released approximately N36 million as an intervention to regularise the 2023/2024 un-indexed 556 students of the Departments of Community Health, Environmental Health, and Health Education, as well as to promote the College of Health Science and Technology, Jega.
