Kwara Introduces Online Common Entrance Registration, Launches Classroom Monitoring Initiative

The Kwara State Government has transitioned the registration process for the Common Entrance Examination for Primary Six pupils to an online platform, aiming to streamline access and reduce administrative bottlenecks.

This development was announced by Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, during the first-quarter Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing held in Ilorin.

In addition to the digital registration, the state has launched the “Commissioner-to-Classroom” (C2C) initiative, designed to foster a safer and more supportive learning environment in both public and private schools across Kwara.

This program includes a helpline support service to address students’ concerns directly.

Dr Olohungbebe stated that the success of the KwaraLearn program has transitioned the state’s education system from analogue to digital, enhancing learning activities and enabling students to compete globally.

The program has also contributed to a significant increase in pupil enrollment across the state.

Approximately 1,800 teachers from the sixteen Local Government Areas have undergone training in modern teaching methods to further support digital literacy.

This effort aligns with the state’s commitment to ensuring quality education through the National Education Quality Assurance Policy, with Quality Assurance Officers monitoring teacher activities for compliance.

Under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration, infrastructural improvements are ongoing, including the construction and renovation of 35 schools and the provision of laboratory equipment across the three Senatorial Districts.

The state is also implementing the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project, in partnership with the World Bank, aiming to train 28,000 schoolgirls in digital skills across 70 public secondary schools.

Furthermore, the Agency for Mass Education has initiated literacy programmes and vocational skills acquisition for adults and youths and launched a “Literacy by Radio” program on Midland FM 99.1 to eradicate illiteracy in the state.

These comprehensive efforts reflect Kwara State’s dedication to transforming its education sector through digital innovation, infrastructural development, and inclusive learning initiatives.
