Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), retired Brigadier-General Buba Marwa, has called on Nigerians to embrace discipline, resilience, and civic responsibility, stressing that the nation needs citizens with character more than soldiers with weapons.
Marwa appealed on Saturday during the 38th anniversary reunion of the Nigerian Military School (NMS) Class of 1982 in Abuja. Reflecting on his days in Zaria, he said the school fostered unity and brotherhood beyond ethnicity or religion.
He highlighted the achievements of his classmates, noting that the 1982 set produced two current Service Chiefs, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, Chief of Naval Staff, and Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff.
Leadership coach Fela Durotoye, who also addressed the gathering, urged alumni to emulate Africa’s liberation leaders of 1945, who, armed only with conviction, fought colonialism. He said the Class of ’82 must focus on building values that will inspire and guide future generations.
