The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results of the 2025 June/July National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations, recording improved performance in Mathematics.
Registrar and Chief Executive, Dr Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, announced the results in Abuja on Thursday. He said 92,875 candidates registered for the examinations across 1,892 centres nationwide – a 37% increase in enrolment compared with 2024, while the number of centres rose by nearly 11%.
Candidates sat for 16 engineering trades, seven construction trades, nine miscellaneous trades, four business trades and 16 general education subjects.
Mohammed said results were released for 89,621 candidates. Of these, 61,104 candidates – representing 68% – obtained five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics, while 74,633 candidates (83%) obtained five credits and above with or without English Language and Mathematics.
“More candidates passed Mathematics while fewer passed English Language this year compared with last year’s examination results,” he said. According to him, 94.6% of candidates who sat for Mathematics recorded pass grades, while English Language had 93.1%.
On examination malpractice, 435 candidates were involved in 516 cases, down from 349 candidates in 524 cases recorded in 2024. Mohammed described the trend as “a decrease in the incidence of examination malpractices”.
He also announced that registration has begun for the 2025 November/December NBC/NTC and Advanced NBC/ANTC examinations, with guidelines available on the NABTEB portal and at state and zonal offices.
The Registrar stressed the importance of vocational and technical education, saying: “In today’s 21st-century world, the need for comprehensive technical and vocational education and training is highly crucial.”
