The Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, held its 8th Solemn Assembly on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the institution’s 1,000-capacity auditorium under the theme “Greater Heights.”
The event, led by the Rector, Dr (Mrs.) Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe, featured vibrant worship, intercessory prayers and a special rendition by the CASOR Choir.
Delivering the sermon, Pastor Dr Kanu N. O. N. urged staff and students to pursue progress through faith, obedience, and hard work, emphasising that proper promotion comes only from God.
In her address, the Rector announced that the 2025/2026 academic session would begin on October 26, with lectures commencing immediately. She directed lecturers to submit their pending results promptly and warned that failure to comply could result in sanctions.
She also reiterated the enforcement of the clock-in policy and encouraged participation in Governor Hope Uzodimma’s Skill-Up Project, which provides digital training and laptops to staff and students.
Side attractions included award presentations to the winners of the FEPNOWA 2025 Cooking and March-Past Competitions, with the Registry Division emerging as the overall best. Igbokwe concluded by urging the Polytechnic community to uphold unity, diligence, and discipline in the pursuit of greater institutional success.
