NELFUND Reopens Portal After 203 Schools Fail

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has reopened its online portal for 48 hours after 203 tertiary institutions failed to upload their students’ data for the 2024/2025 loan application.

According to a statement by the Fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the portal will be open from midnight on Sunday, October 12, to midnight on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

The affected institutions are required to upload their students’ details on the Student Loan Application System (SLAS), which enables them to apply for financial support.

NELFUND said the temporary extension aims to ensure that all qualified students are captured and verified by their schools before the loan process closes.

The agency warned that institutions that fail to comply within the given time risk excluding their students from the ongoing loan scheme, which is part of the government’s effort to make higher education more affordable for Nigerians.
