The Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) (NIM) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting world-class management practices during the 2025 Management Day Lecture at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event, held in honour of management pioneer Peter Drucker, focused on “Sustainable and Purpose-Driven Organisations: ESG, Circular Economy and Beyond.”
Commodore Abimbola Ayuba (Rtd.), FNIM, fdc, NIM President and Chairman of Council, described the Institute as the nation’s custodian of management excellence and urged the government to designate November 19 as a national day for management.
Keynote speaker Mr Niyi Yusuf, Managing Director of Verraki Partners, highlighted the global rise of ESG investments, projected to grow from US$35.48 trillion to US$167.49 trillion by 2034, and emphasised sustainability as a driver of long-term organisational relevance.
He stressed that Nigeria must enforce governance codes and embrace ESG as an investment in institutional longevity.
The event featured the conferment of Fellowships on distinguished professionals, including the first-ever Honorary Fellowship to the Sultan of Sokoto, and the recognition of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Long-service awards and cultural performances complemented the ceremony.
NIM reiterated its commitment to ethical leadership, sustainable development, and globally competitive management standards, pledging to continue shaping future-ready, purpose-driven organisations in Nigeria through advocacy, training, and thought leadership initiatives.
