Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has celebrated two of its academics after they were named among the five recipients of the English Scholars’ Association of Nigeria (ESAN)’s highest honour at the association’s annual conference, held at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) in Port Harcourt.
The awardees from OAU are Professor E.T.O. Babalola, a member of the OAU Governing Council and the current Head of the Department of English, and Professor Rotimi Taiwo, the former head of the department.
OAU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, praised the honourees, saying the recognition “is a testament to the intellectual leadership and scholarly excellence that OAU continues to nurture. We are immensely proud of Professors Babalola and Taiwo for bringing honour to the university and for their lasting contributions to English and Literary Studies in Nigeria and beyond.”
The awards reinforce OAU’s long-standing reputation for excellence in English and Literary Studies and underline the national and international impact of its scholars.
