Prof. Siyan Oyeweso, OAU Pro-Chancellor, dies at 64
The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, has lost its Pro-Chancellor and Council Chairman, Prof. Abdulgafar Siyan Oyeweso, who passed away on Tuesday, December 2, at the age of 64.
According to a family statement by Olawale Oyeweso, the late professor of history died in a hospital following a successful surgery earlier in the day.
The statement described him as “a renowned professor of history, an educator and mentor, who touched the lives of countless students, colleagues and political associates.”
Prof. Oyeweso is survived by his wife, children, and other family members. His burial took place at his country home in Ede at 4 p.m., following the solar Ashri prayers.
