Two of Nigeria’s leading universities, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and the University of Lagos (UNILAG), are facing possible legal action after complaints of widespread glitches in their Post-UTME examinations.
Alex Onyia, Chief Executive of education platform Educare, said he would sue the institutions following what he described as the “constant bullying of young Nigerian students.” Writing on X, Onyia said he had received more than 750 reports from candidates who claimed technical errors led to unfair failures, despite strong performance in the national JAMB exams.
He alleged that the problems were caused by vendors engaged to run the tests. His post went viral after he linked the glitches to the reported death of a candidate, Bridget, who he said had taken her own life after failing the exam.
The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many users demanding accountability from the institutions. Onyia said the case highlighted the consequences of negligence in the education system, insisting that universities must take responsibility when failures occur.
Neither OAU nor UNILAG has publicly responded to the allegations.
