Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has emerged first runner-up at the AccounTech 2025 Summit Quiz Challenge, earning a ₦1 million cash prize.
The two-day summit, held in Lagos, brought together students, graduates, and professionals to test knowledge in accounting, technology, and finance.
OAU’s team, comprising Damilare Obatola, Elizabeth Obadofin, and Samson Adetunji, impressed the judges with their strong performance, despite stiff competition from other leading universities.
Day One of the summit featured keynote addresses and panel discussions on tax policy, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and data analytics, with contributions from industry experts including Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, Dr. Timi Olubiyi, and Mrs. Folashade Adebayo. The quiz competition took place on Day Two, testing participants on topics such as tax reforms, corporate governance, financial technology, and global accounting standards.
Alongside the contest, Prof Chris Ogbechie, Dean of Lagos Business School, launched the Africa AccounTech Sector Report, which emphasised the growing role of digital tools in transforming Africa’s financial sector.
