The Ochi’Idoma of Idoma land, HRM Agabaidu John Elaigwu Odogbo, has urged the management of Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, to work diligently towards restoring the institution’s lost reputation through discipline, innovation, and community collaboration.
He made the call when the Polytechnic’s leadership, led by the Rector, Arc. Dr Henry Ojobo paid a courtesy visit to his palace in Otukpo.
Describing the institution as a beacon of learning and service, the traditional ruler said: “Leadership in education is not a privilege but a sacred duty of service.” He tasked the Rector with ensuring the full enforcement of academic standards, improving infrastructure, and restoring technical and moral values within the Polytechnic.
The Ochi’Idoma also highlighted security concerns around the campus and called for stronger partnerships with community leaders and youth groups to address them.
In his response, Dr Ojobo expressed gratitude to the royal father for his counsel and prayers, saying the visit was part of efforts to strengthen stakeholder relations and promote peace and development.
He outlined some of his administration’s early achievements, including improved security, digitisation of school processes, restoration of water facilities, enhanced staff welfare, and measures to curb certificate forgery and corruption.
The Rector was accompanied by top management officials, including the Registrar, Dr Sunday Apochi, and the Bursar, Mr Joseph Kase.
