More than 120 students of Gozie Anyachebelu Polytechnic (GOZPOLY), Onitsha, Anambra State, have received scholarships for their studies.
The Rector, Engr Helen Abone, announced this during the matriculation ceremony, where about 70 students were formally admitted. She added that over 16 graduates had already received certificates in entrepreneurship since the institution’s establishment.
Abone said the polytechnic was founded on the belief that education must be “practical, innovative and transformative,” with a vision to bridge the gap between theory and hands-on competence. Delivering the keynote address on Human Capital Development in the 21st Century, Mazi Samuel Ohuabunwa, President of the Association of Corporate Governance Professionals of Nigeria, praised the school’s model and urged students to embrace discipline and effective time management.
The Bishop of Niger, Rt Rev Owen Nwokolo, who is also the proprietor, advised students to combine hard work with the fear of God, assuring them that the institution would equip them with skills to become employers of labour.
