Special guests at the launch of PIND’s ₦113 Million TVET Facilities Upgrade Grant in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom
The PIND Foundation has unveiled a ₦113 million TVET Facilities Upgrade Grant to modernise 14 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres across the Niger Delta.
The programme targets centres in Aba, Warri, Port Harcourt, Uyo, and Asaba, aiming to strengthen skills development in ICT, agriculture, building construction, and services.
Speaking at the launch, PIND Executive Director Sam Ogbemi Daibo said, “We are not just upgrading equipment; we are upgrading futures. Strengthening TVET institutions ensures youth gain skills demanded by industries, boosting livelihoods and economic prospects in the Niger Delta.”
The initiative will run from September 2025 to February 2026 and is expected to benefit over 10,000 unemployed youths by providing market-relevant skills and improving job and enterprise linkages. Beneficiaries welcomed the support, noting it will enhance workshop facilities and expand training capacity.
As part of the launch, PIND held a strategy workshop with government agencies, private-sector partners, and development actors to explore ways to make TVET centres more commercially viable and sustainable.
The foundation said the programme positions skills development as a key driver for youth employment, innovation, and inclusive economic growth in the region.
