The Niger State Police Command has arrested seven suspects over the killing of Abdulwahab Jafar, a 23-year-old 200-level Chemistry/Education student of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL).
Jafar was attacked on June 23, prompting police to arrest 19 people initially. After investigations, the number was trimmed to seven. Those arrested include Idris Hamza (27), Suleiman Damilare (27), Abdulsemiu Bashir (23), Bawa Aliyu (27), Yakubu Musa a.k.a. Pypa (24), Samson Abbah a.k.a. Small (28), and Solomon Musa a.k.a. Cabella (28).
Police spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said the suspects will face charges ranging from conspiracy, robbery, unlawful society, and possession of weapons, to internet fraud and suspected culpable homicide. Abiodun revealed that two suspects were first caught on June 27 in Fadikpe with cannabis, charms, and a Toyota Corolla. They allegedly confessed to being members of the Neo Black Movement of Africa (NBM) and admitted to cult activities at IBBUL, including student initiation.
