Dr Fasagba Femi, the Provost of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, has praised the President Bola Tinubu-led administration for expanding the scope to allow Colleges of Education to run degree programmes alongside the training of National Certificate of Education (NCE) holders.
Fasagba gave the commendation while speaking with newsmen shortly after receiving the award of excellence by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council in Lokoja at the weekend.
He explained that the importance of the Colleges of Education in the educational system cannot be overstated, noting that the colleges have been tasked with training teachers.
The provost noted that although some specific Colleges of Education have been selected to pilot the federal government’s new directives, state governments are not leaving any stone unturned to enable them to key into the new policy.
