The Mandate Secretary for Education in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr Danlami Hayyo, has enrolled his two children in Government Science Secondary School, Pyakasa, Maitama, for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Speaking at the enrolment exercise, Hayyo said the decision reflected his confidence in the quality of public schools in the FCT. He credited recent improvements to the leadership of the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.
Hayyo highlighted investments in infrastructure, classroom renovations and technology, including laptops and tablets, which he said had created safer and more modern learning environments. “Public schools in the FCT have become institutions of choice,” he said, urging parents to take advantage of the affordable and accessible system.
He also assured that the Education Secretariat had strengthened oversight of schools, ensuring high teaching standards and discouraging malpractice. According to him, FCT students had continued to excel in national and international competitions, showcasing Nigeria’s potential.
Hayyo commended Wike for repositioning the sector and said his own decision was intended to restore public confidence in government schools.
