Six Students from Abuja Regional Final Advance to MTN Spelling Bee Grand Finale

Six students have qualified for the national finals of the MTN mPulse Spelling Bee after emerging as champions in the North-Central, North-East, and North-West regional rounds held in Abuja.

The event brought together some of the region’s most promising young spellers, all vying for a place in the national competition. Those who secured their spots include Samuel Babalola, Ojoma Gabriel Sylver, Favour Shuwa, Henry Elebiga Goodness, Levi Kelechi Ebisike, and Mary Chukwudi.

The spelling bee, which targets students aged 9 to 15, offers student winners a share of prizes worth over ₦40 million. The eventual national champion will receive a ₦5 million educational grant, a laptop, a smartphone, and serve as “MTN CEO for a Day.” Their school will also benefit from a ₦10 million ICT project.

Temilolu Salako, Senior Manager for Youth and Teen Marketing at MTN Nigeria, praised the contestants’ drive. “We believe in the power of connectivity and technology to transform lives,” she said, encouraging the students to continue dreaming big.

One of the finalists, 13-year-old Mary Chukwudi, said she had entered the event believing she would win. “I am really proud of myself. I cannot wait for Lagos,” she said, smiling.
