The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has initiated a programme to train more laboratory technicians, nurses, doctors, and pharmacists in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
The initiative is a response to bridge the gap in the health sector, as about 16,000 doctors have migrated abroad within the last seven years. Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, the Chairman of the TETFund Governing Board, stated that the agency has disbursed ₦100 billion to 18 higher educational institutions. He noted that the funds will enhance their capacity to train medical science students by providing them with the necessary infrastructure, laboratories, and lecture halls.
