The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has announced that its 40th Convocation Ceremonies will be held from October 17 to 26 at its main campus.
According to a statement signed by the Registrar, M.A. Alfanla, the week-long programme will feature the award of first and higher degrees, diplomas, certificates, and prizes to outstanding students.
Highlights include religious services, a convocation play, commissioning of projects, and a lecture to be delivered by former Lagos State governor and ex-Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola. The lecture, titled “The Gen-Z Playbook: Navigating Work and the Real World”, will take place on October 22.
Graduation ceremonies have been scheduled in phases: four-year and diploma programmes on October 22, and five- and six-year programmes, as well as postgraduate degrees, on October 23. A luncheon and staff merit awards will also be held.
The university urged graduands to confirm their names on its website and pay mandatory charges, including ₦20,000 for most graduates and ₦10,000 for PhD holders. Academic gowns are to be collected from October 20 and returned by October 27 to avoid penalties.
UNILORIN described the event as a celebration of academic excellence and its growth as one of Nigeria’s leading universities.
