The University of Ilorin Senate Research Grant 2025 has collaborated with the University of the West of England, Bristol, on a two-week pilot programme to promote nutrition and brain development among children.
The initiative, tagged Brain Farm Kids Camp 2025, was held from August 25 to September 5 at Chaste Intellect International School, Ilorin, with 21 children between the ages of 7 and 12 participating.
According to organisers, the camp focused on raising awareness about the role of balanced diets in children’s learning, memory formation, and emotional growth. They stressed that meals rich in proteins, vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats boost concentration, energy, and academic performance, while poor nutrition undermines cognitive development.
UNILORIN partnered in the planning and facilitation of the programme. Its former president, Mubarak Jolayemi Mustapha, current president, Caleb Kolawole, and other members were actively involved in the execution.
