Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK), has exposed an admission racketeering case involving one of its staff members, Mr. Nnaji Kenneth, from the Registry Department.
Kenneth allegedly collected ₦400,000 from the mother of a prospective student, promising to secure her son’s admission into the Faculty of Medicine. When the plan failed, the deal was reportedly changed to Nursing Science. However, after receiving the money, Kenneth stopped answering the woman’s calls, prompting her to report directly to the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi.
In a statement by the Acting Head of Public Relations, Louis Njelita, the accused admitted to the allegations, and the matter has been referred to the university’s disciplinary committee.
The Vice-Chancellor warned that the institution will not tolerate fraudulent practices and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to transparent admission processes. The university community now awaits the outcome of the committee’s decision on the case.
