The National Chairperson of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) and wife of the Inspector-General of Police, Mrs Elizabeth Kayode Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the association’s commitment to promoting education, describing it as a core pillar of POWA’s agenda, alongside health and women’s empowerment.
Mrs Egbetokun made this known on Wednesday during her official visit to Bauchi State before commissioning a newly constructed POWA model secondary school in Sum village, Bogoro Local Government Area.
Speaking to reporters, she noted that the school, a boarding facility built in partnership with the Bauchi State Ministry of Education, is designed to serve not only children of police families but also the entire community and neighbouring states.
“Exactly one year ago, we were here to perform the groundbreaking ceremony for this school. Today, we are back in Bauchi to commission it,” she said.
The commissioning is scheduled for Thursday and is expected to be held amidst pomp and pageantry, marking a significant milestone in POWA’s efforts to expand access to quality education.
