Abia State Governor Alex Otti says his administration has allocated 20% of the state budget to education for two consecutive years to rebuild the sector. Otti disclosed this during a courtesy visit by the Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr Oliver Ali Abah, at Government House, Umuahia.
He said the investment was already yielding results, with schools and tertiary institutions undergoing major renovation, including the construction of new hostels and the completion of cafeterias at Abia State University, Uturu.
The governor also assured support for the church’s plan to establish a Methodist University in Umuimenyi, Bende Local Government Area. He directed relevant state officials to resolve the land disputes that were delaying the project.
Prelate Abah commended Otti’s reforms, describing him as a leader “elected by God and man” and pledging that the church would complement the government’s efforts to provide quality education.
