35 Kogi Students Get Makoju Memorial Scholarship

At least 35 secondary school students from poor homes in Ebiraland, Kogi State, have received full scholarships through the Back to School Initiative held in memory of the late Enesi Oyeyani Makoju.

Enesi, son of the late Joseph Makoju — former NEPA boss and ex-Group Managing Director of Dangote Cement Plc — is being honoured through this annual education support scheme.

During the distribution of educational materials at the Makoju family home in Ikaraworo, Adavi Local Government, the convener, Engr. Suberu Onimisi Nusa said the initiative was designed to help orphans and children whose parents cannot afford school fees.

He explained that the programme, which began in 2019, was created to lift the standard of education and give disadvantaged students a chance to succeed. The scholarship covers complete secondary education, easing the burden on struggling families and keeping more children in school.
