Delta SUBEB Orders Mandatory Staff Verification Across 25 LGAs

The Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has directed all teaching and non-teaching staff under the 25 Local Government Education Authorities in the state to undergo a compulsory physical verification and certificate screening exercise.

The exercise, scheduled to commence on Thursday, September 18, 2025, was announced in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of SUBEB, Byron A. Unini. Specific dates and times for each local government will be communicated later.

According to the circular, the verification committee will require staff to present key documents, including letters of first appointment, confirmation, and last promotion; birth certificate or age declaration; local government identification letter; First School Leaving Certificate; WAEC; NCE; OND; HND; degree and NYSC certificates, where applicable.

The circular warned that any staff who fails to appear before the committee will be deemed to have absconded from duty and sanctioned accordingly.

SUBEB further instructed all Education Secretaries to ensure the directive is widely publicised and fully complied with, noting that the exercise aims to sanitise the system, authenticate staff records, and strengthen accountability in the state’s basic education sector.
