The Federal Government has inaugurated Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) projects worth N3.8bn at Osun State University (UNIOSUN), including a new Senate building.
The projects were launched on Wednesday during the university’s 15th convocation. Chairman of TETFund’s Board of Trustees, Aminu Bello Masari, stated that the Fund had allocated more than N14 billion to UNIOSUN, of which over N10 billion had been utilised. He assured that no TETFund projects would be abandoned.
“In recent times, we convened a meeting of beneficiary institutions with challenges of completing their projects to find ways of ensuring they are finished,” he said.
Vice Chancellor Prof Clement Adebooye commended TETFund’s support, pledging that funds would be utilised appropriately. He also congratulated graduating students, urging them to uphold the university’s values and contribute positively to society.
TETFund’s Executive Secretary, Sonny Echono, in a lecture delivered by a representative, stressed that Nigeria’s higher education system must embrace digital transformation to produce globally competitive graduates.
The new Senate building includes a 500-capacity relaxation centre, senate chambers, executive offices, conference rooms, and is equipped with lifts, complete furnishing and a power plant, according to project contractors.
