The Tabitha Cumi Foundation (TCF) has launched a new project to promote girls’ rights and education in underserved communities across Nigeria.
Speaking at the Abuja launch, Executive Director Adedayo Erinle said the initiative, called Girls’ Rights Education and Protection Project (G-REAP), is funded by the Ford Foundation and aims to support vulnerable adolescent girls.
Represented by Programme Manager Nendirmwa Ohah, Erinle said the foundation is working with key stakeholders to strengthen systems that protect girls and prevent gender-based violence.
She noted that TCF has already empowered over 153,000 women and girls in more than 230 schools through programmes that build confidence and keep girls in school.
According to her, many beneficiaries are now able to speak up for themselves and no longer skip school due to menstruation-related stigma. The foundation said the new project will further expand these efforts to reach more communities nationwide.
