Ibrahim Mohammed, a member of the House of Representatives representing Birnin Kebbi/Kalgo/Bunza Federal Constituency, has presented bills proposing the establishment of two tertiary institutions in Kebbi State. While the National Assembly prepared for a public hearing about the bills, Mohammed said the bills would address employment among youth and improve skills-based education.
He added that the institutions will serve as regional hubs for innovation, technical training, and entrepreneurship development in Kebbi. The proposed institutions are the National Institute for Technical and Vocational Education in Kalgo and the Federal College of Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition in Bunza.
Mohammed explained that the Institution in Kalgo would provide hands-on technical and vocational training that meets industry needs while supporting applied research and innovation. He added that the college in Bunza would provide teacher training and certification in entrepreneurship. Upon passing the bills into law, the institutions will be funded by the federal government, run by different governing councils, and have the authority to award certificates.
